Video: Pelvic Floor Health 101
Healing after childbirth, avoiding incontinence and maximizing pleasure
I’m so excited to present this week’s video offering with my friend and colleague, Dr. Kelsey Daniels! We have worked together for nearly 3 years caring for mothers and babies in the Las Vegas Valley. She is an amazing teacher and advocate who graciously offers her insight on pelvic floor health, practical aspects of parenting and intimacy across the lifespan.
Dr. Kelsey is a mama of two, wife and doctor of physical therapy (DPT) who works with pregnant/postpartum mothers and babies in their homes. She’s trained in pelvic health (including internal techniques as appropriate) and loves to help moms find their footing in those early years. She is the only provider in the Las Vegas valley that also treats children including newborns/infants for torticollis, head shape, feeding and reducing milestone anxiety. Dr. Kelsey is a working mama of two under 5 so she understands the transition back to the office and the exhaustion of pumping, feeding and the desire to still nurture your dreams and ambitions. Currently offering in-home therapy sessions, play groups and more in the Las Vegas valley! You can find her on Instagram or on https://www.bemobile.live/
We cover the following in this session:
What are the most common conditions you treat in the postpartum setting?
How long after vaginal delivery is sexual function affected? Can you talk a bit about how hormone fluctuation affects physical healing, mental health and sexual function?
How does prenatal PT help to facilitate both vaginal and c-section delivery?
How can pelvic floor PT help patients avoid complications like incontinence, prolapse and painful sex?
What types of conditions in men can pelvic floor PT help with? What role does the prostate play in men’s pleasure?
We also talk about the role of the pelvic floor in “edging”, prolonged play and more powerful climax.
In future episodes, I’ll be teaching Male Anatomy 101 and All About Birth Control. I also have interviews planned to discuss Menopause/Hormone Replacement Therapy.
Please check out last week’s video interview with
in which we discuss her bold reported memoir “Pathological: The True Story of Six Misdiagnoses” and the structural flaws in the US mental healthcare system. Join us on Saturday August 31st at 4pm EST/1pm PST to discuss the the book, the mental healthcare system and the subjective nature of the DSM. You can purchase the book here but you don’t have to read it to attend. The fine print:
