Learning to Let Go
And Trusting My Wings to Carry Me
January
Flew into an inferno in Los Angeles to take an English proficiency exam to support my application for Canadian immigration.
February
Drawn into conversation with a tipsy Bordeaux winemaker in Paris and declined a glass when he offered. You giggled and were proud of my fortitude.
March
Learned a new “Varsity Level” skill from an experienced player in Europe who doesn’t speak English. Understood that listening to the body is the same in every language.
April
Flew to border services with the express purpose of obtaining my work visa because the wait for online application approval had increased to 81 weeks. With visa in hand, proceeded to the Service Canada desk to obtain my new social insurance number.
May
Redistributed my belongings, sold my house, folded my businesses and set off for a new start in a different country. Learned that the complexities of international banking can be an enormous but surmountable pain in the ass. Still learning with ongoing pains in the ass.
June
Took a month off. Experienced an exhale that went all the way down to my soul.
July
Started a new job in a foreign system. Felt like a kindergartner, an intern and a first year fellow all over again. Asked for and received patience with my learning.
August
Hosted an American friend from Europe. Ate a LOT of vegan food. Changed someone’s life for the better. Actually, probably changed several people’s lives for the better.
September
Turned 46. Filed dissolution papers on 2 US based companies I built from scratch. Learned that letting go is the only way to learn to fly.
Received my new MSP card and breathed another sigh of relief because I have access to public healthcare.
October
Wrestled with, fought and was overtaken by the encroaching darkness. Learned to continue walking in the cold, dark and rain. Got wet. Still wet.
November
Spoke publicly on the topic of women’s health at two different venues. Got a new Canadian phone and remain incredibly selective about who gets access to that number. Stopped receiving scam and political fundraising texts from the United States.
December
Came to terms with the roots of my Imposter Syndrome and set an intention to learn to love myself unconditionally.
Sought ways to build community and cultivate authentic relationships. Continuing these practices into the New Year.
Wishing you the courage to release things that no longer serve you in the year ahead.

Well done! Congratulations on your growth and healing. Happy Holidays 🌲🎇
